Hardly anyone has made it through the pandemic with their work-life unchanged. Millions of people have lost jobs, been placed on furlough, or switched to working from home.

The pandemic has taught many people that the job does not have to be the way it was. This realization may be one reason many are not returning to their old jobs.

Working remotely was thrown upon millions of workers on a global scale, and not two and a half years later, since COVID began, Datapeople‘s co-founder and CEO Amit Bhatia mentioned that “remote work and flexibility is winning with candidates”.

This data was analyzed by 30 million real-world job posts and hiring outcomes from 2019 onwards. The data came from over 10,000 employers and 122 different ATSs.

Can you believe that the number of interest in remote work since 2019 went up 400%, and only 15% of businesses are not offering remote options, this went up 50% in 2019.

Rounding up, this data showed that between the beginning of COVID, early 2019, and 2022, remote work was more appealing, 2.2 times more appealing to be exact. Non-remote roles are decreasing on a larger scale!

Datapeople’s Hiring in a Distributed World 2022 report:

It is clear that candidates are keen on remote roles. In fact, remote roles attract 125% more inbound candidate pools than non-remote roles, and this trend exists regardless of job type or seniority.

Therefore, for businesses who are unsure what to do in this tight labor market, Datapeople’s research noted that “if in doubt, go remote”.

4 Ways to Get Better Results from Your Job Ads

It is crucial that employers stay competitive, and that is why we have put together 4 ways to benefit from your job advert hunt.

Stop Using Job Descriptions as Your Ad

Most companies make the mistake of using their job description instead of writing an ad that will attract the right candidates. Too many businesses post an ad on a job board and hope great candidates will see it. Unfortunately, that strategy does not work so well.

When you use a job description as your ad, you spend your time screening out unqualified candidates. That process is time-consuming and often mind numbing. Who has time to read all those resumes?

Understand Your Ideal Candidate

As a business owner, you have a great opportunity to hire some of the best people in the market, and it is easier than you think.

Start by spending time thinking about what your ideal employee looks like, what is important to them, and why they would want to work for your business. The most useful question you can ask yourself is, “If I were a potential employee, why would I want to work for my company?”, says Latamforce’s founder Gonzalo Escriña. This thinking is much more employee-focused. By understanding what an ideal employee would find attractive about working for you, you can use that information to attract high performers to your company.

Your Job Ad is a Marketing Tool

You want your ad to immediately stand out and make your ideal candidate read more. You have about seven seconds to grab someone’s attention, use your first two sentences wisely.

A great ad creates an image in the minds of potential candidates of what it means to work for your business. It should differentiate why your ideal employee would be happier working for you than for any other company with the same type of job.

Be Human

The more human you are, the more successful you will be. Remember you are recruiting people. While we want faster, automated processes, our ideal candidates want human interaction. Job seekers are dying to have conversations with you.

Social media is a great tool to showcase your company and what it is like to work there. It is also an effective way to have these conversations and build your employer brand. Posting informative information related to your company or industry can entice more interaction with possible candidates. Keep the conversation going by sharing valuable content and responding to candidates’ questions quickly.

As you can see, remote work is here to stay. If you need help finding the right talent for the job, get in touch with Latamforce, we can take your business to the next level of success in no time!
